Mike McTamney

Toms River North Alumni Mike McTamney has recruited to Division 1 Wagner College on a full scholarship out of High School where he went on to pitch for the Seahawks for 4 years before graduating. He then went on to play in the Golden Baseball League as he was signed as a rookie out of Wagner College by the Fullerton Flyers in 2005. After Mike's first two professional seasons, he was named as one of Baseball America's Top Indy Baseball Prospects. He was then offered a job in the Colombia Winter League where he continued to impress as a relief pitcher for the Cardenales de Monteria who went on to win the league championship. In 2006, his accomplishments caught the attention of the Philadelphia Phillies who invited him to a tryout in Clearwater, FL. He was the first pitcher to throw and after hitting 95 MPH on the radar gun, the Phillies immediately offered him a contract.

After his stint with the Phillies Organization, Mike went back to Independent Baseball to play 4 more seasons. He made his way through the Can Am League, Frontier League, American Association and the Northern League traveling all over the country to play the game he loves. Mike finished his professional career in 2010 posting a career 4.04 ERA in 412 innings pitched with 307 K's, 116 BB's and a 1.32 WHIP. McTamney now sets his sights on helping to improve younger pitchers to get them on the right path by teaching them proper mechanics to bring the best out of every player.
